Creative Movement gives two year-olds creative development, rhythmic skills, and a foundation for motor development. This 30-minute class allows children to move freely and develop a love for dance.
Tiny Tutus is for preschool children 3 -5 years old. Tiny Tutus includes ballet and tap, with a strong emphasis on creative movement. Creative movement enhances the development of fine motor skills as they run, skip, leap, stretch, coordinate, isolate and move to music.
Rookie classes combine genres of dance for children Kindergarten through 2nd grade. We offer a Ballet and Tap Fusion Class and a Jazz and Hip Hop Fusion class. These are great starter classes for the novice dancer to introduce them to the more structured side of dance technique and instruction.
Ballet is the foundation of dance. It teaches proper placement, alignment, balance, technique and control. All of these elements are extremely important in any form of dance. Students focus on improving strength, control, and body positioning in barre and center work, as well as learning the vocabulary and terminology of Ballet.
Contemporary dance is an extension of ballet that expresses and showcases emotion. The dancer is taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, motion and style. This style combines the fluid beauty of ballet with the more sharp moves in jazz.
Hip-hop dance is a unique and exciting style of street dance that is most commonly performed to hip-hop music. Hip-hop dance is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Through its three main styles of popping, locking, and breaking, hip-hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance.
Jazz is a stylized, fast-paced form of dance that employs many of the same concepts of ballet. This form of dance includes a variety of different skills and other technical aspects, and is paired with music that is popular and upbeat. Students focus on strength, technique, memorization, and terminology.
Leaps & Turns classes are available to any student wishing to improve upon the technical aspects of dance including their jumps, leaps and turns. Classes will cover both Jazz and Ballet technique.
Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. Pointe technique encompasses both the mechanical and artistic aspects of pointe work. In particular, it is concerned with body alignment, placement of the feet and the manner in which a dancer transitions to and from en pointe.
A 60-minute class focusing on building core strength and cardiovascular endurance with an emphasis on stretching. This class builds the very foundation needed to become an exquisite dancer.
Tap is all about rhythm. This exciting and challenging form of dance is executed by creating combinations of sounds with the shoes on your feet. Students focus on rhythm, timing, and coordination.
