At The Studio School of Dance, dance is about more than technique — it’s about growth, joy, community, and confidence. Since 1979, we’ve been nurturing Kansas City dancers of all ages, guided by our five pillars: Collaboration, Elevate, Joy, Unity, and Empower.
The Studio School of Dance was founded in 1979 in downtown Olathe, Kansas by Kim Bowen Harbour. Soon after, the Studio moved to its own building at Ridgeview & Kansas City Road, where it continued to grow for many years.
In the years that followed, the Studio passed through the hands of dedicated former dancers who cherished its legacy:
Through every transition, the Studio has remained a place where dancers thrive — technically, artistically, and personally.
Our Five Pillars
Our pillars guide everything we do, shaping not just dancers, but confident, creative, and joyful individuals.
These values are woven into every class, performance, and interaction at The Studio, creating an environment where dancers grow, shine, and feel part of a supportive Kansas City dance family.
Today, we continue to honor our rich history while inspiring the next generation of Kansas City dancers. We’re thrilled to welcome new families, help dancers of all ages reach their full potential, and continue building a community where every dancer can thrive. We are a community of passionate dancers committed to providing top-notch training and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for dancers of all levels. Come join us and let's dance together!
